Has a couple of drawings in the current Chelsea Art Club display which is at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London

David Sprakes
David is showing work at Patchings Arts Centre, Nottingham from Saturday 11th May to Sunday 29th September with the YORKSHIRE SCULPTORS GROUP in an outdoor exhibition called BREAKING GROUND.  He also has work in The Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate, from Tuesday 9th – Thursday 11th July.

John Sprakes
Is having a one man exhibition in the Barn Gallery at Patchings Arts Centre Nottingham on the 11th May 2019 until the 23rd June 2019.  The exhibition includes some of the paintings included in his recently published book “Journey into Abstraction”.  He will also be signing copies during the course of the exhibition.  John will also be Guest Artist at Patchings Arts Festival, starting on the 11th July.

Congratulations to Austin Cole, Lee Madgwick, Bridget Moore and Melissa Scott-Miller, who are all showing work in the Royal Academy Summer Show.

AND some really exciting news from some of our RBA RISING STARS, past and present …

Charlie Schaffer has had an amazing year, having been awarded:

  • The Brian Botting Prize of £5000 at the Lynn-Painter Stainer’s exhibition [for the 3rd time out of the 4 years that it has been running],
  • Awarded second place at this year’s Artist & Illustator’s Artist of the Year
  • AND has been awarded the £35,000 First Prize at the prestigious BP Portrait Awards 2019.  Along with this he has a commission, at the National Portrait Gallery Trustees’ discretion, worth £7000.  The artwork can be seen at the National Portrait Gallery, London  from 13th June

Juliet Gibbs, one of this year’s RBA RISING STARS:

Won the Open Contemporary Young Artist Award at the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, with her painting:

Alex J Wood – another of this year’s RBA RISING STARS:
Alex is exhibiting work at Volksbank in Speyer Germany from 14 June until 4 July.  He will be showing some new bronze sculptures and watercolours in ‘Rising Stars’ curated by Ralph Gelbert.  The Private View / Kultournacht is from 7:00 pm on 14 June.

Teresa Hunyadi – Rome Scholarship winner 2019
She has a new solo show coming up next August at the Patriothall Gallery in Edinburgh.  The opening will be on the 2nd of August and the closing event on the 18th of August.

Blaze Cyan:
She has a work in the RA Summer Exhibition and this year was promoted to ‘Fellow’ of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.  At present she has work in the Bankside Gallery, as one of  ’25 Selected artists from The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers & The Royal Society of Watercolour Artists’.  Blaze is a member of ‘The Arborealists’ an international group of artists specialising in the representation of trees and has work in the Society of Wood Engravers 81st Exhibition.  This is a touring exhibition and its next venue is:
Penwith Gallery, Back Road West, Saint Ives TR26 1NL

AND the RBA’s most recent good news is that MICK DAVIES VPRBA will take over as President when Nick Tidnam PRBA, NEAC stands down at the AGM in July.  Congratulations to Mick!
